NADP & IIM Visakhapatnam Launch the first-ever Hybrid eMBA for Defence Managers

Strategic Minds, National Mission: NADP Hosts Transformative Defence Module for IIMV eMBA

Nagpur, September 13, 2025 — The National Academy of Defence Production (NADP), Nagpur, proudly hosted a transformative learning module under the Executive MBA (eMBA) program launched by the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV). This pioneering initiative, developed in partnership with NADP, is designed to prepare Indian defence managers for a global footprint, integrating strategic thinking with technological foresight.


The week-long immersion, held from 8th to 13th September 2025, brought together participants from across Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), private industry, and strategic institutions. The module focused on “Technology Management and Defence Innovation Ecosystem,” and offered a rich blend of academic depth, field exposure, and leadership insights.

The program featured an exceptional lineup of speakers who brought global, national, and industry perspectives to the classroom. Shri Pankaj Saran, former Deputy National Security Advisor and Ambassador to Russia, spoke on techno-nationalism and technology embargoes. Dr. Rizwan Ahmed, CTO of Delaplex, introduced emerging digital technologies. Shri Laksman Singh from HAL Korwa shared insights on the dynamics and challenges of technology transfer in defence. Shri Guruprasad Sharma from Forge Innovation elaborated on driving innovation through iDEX. Dr. A.S. Khan, former GM NADP, discussed global business perspectives and government partnerships for technology development. SAN Murthy, Former GM NADP brought the foundational aspects of Technology management. Dr. J.P. Dash, Pricipal Director at NADP, led sessions on innovation frameworks, strategic alliances, and technology strategy, anchoring the module with his deep expertise.


Adding further academic and technical depth to the program were Prof. B. Srirangacharyulu from IIMV and Shri R. Srihari, Scientist-G (Retd) from NSTL, whose presence enriched the discussions and reflections. Shri Mohan Agrawal, JD, seamlessly managed the program with a one-day workshop on ‘Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer’ by the Innovation and Incubation Cell of NADP under Ministry of Education. The event included a Book Launch on “Nuances of Transfer of Technology — in Defence Domain & Its Mathematical Modelling”, authored by Dr. Lakshman Singh and Mr. Gaurav Yadav of HAL.

Participants experienced immersive field visits to Siemens Digital Transformation Lab at VNIT, Ordnance Factory Chanda (OFCH), and Ordnance Factory Ambajhari (OFAJ). These visits offered firsthand exposure to India’s land systems, manufacturing capabilities, and innovation pipelines. A visit to Baba Amte Ashram added a socio-technological dimension to the learning experience, grounding defence innovation in human values.

This module marks a significant milestone in building national capability in defence management. It is the first-of-its-kind program in India that brings together the public and private sectors in a hybrid learning format, combining online and immersive campus modules. The program also includes an international component, offering global exposure through curated study tours. This unique collaboration between IIM Visakhapatnam, HAL Management Academy (HMA), BEL, BAE Systems, and NADP reflects a strategic convergence of academia, industry, and defence institutions.

Participants expressed deep appreciation for the experience. “This has been a great learning experience for all of us… Thank you very much,” said one. Another remarked, “We will remember our great time and learnings at NADP… Excellent hospitality and support.” The warmth and professionalism of the NADP team left a lasting impression on all.
